The McElhill Engineering Ltd Viper Timber Grab is a heavy-duty hydraulic excavator timber grab built and supplied from our workshop in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Designed for forestry contractors, agricultural contractors, land clearance operators, and sawmill operators across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and England, the Viper handles logs, timber, brushwood and agricultural materials with a secure, controlled grip on every pass. Available in two excavator sizes — the Viper 1100 for 2 to 6 ton mini and midi excavators and the Viper 1300 for 6 to 13 ton machines — plus two new handheld manual timber grabs, The Claw and The Fang, for use away from the machine. Every excavator grab is built to order with a custom headstock matched exactly to your machine. Hydraulic pipes are included as standard. Unlike cutting attachments, timber grabs carry no government seasonal restriction — the Viper earns all twelve months of the year.

Delivered on a pallet via trusted haulage to Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and England. ROI contractors with a valid VAT number pay zero VAT. Workshop collection from Fermanagh, Co Fermanagh also available. Other locations by arrangement.

Not every timber handling job needs an excavator. The Claw and The Fang are handheld manual log grabs — no hydraulics, no machine required. Built from Hardox steel in our Fermanagh workshop, they give you a controlled mechanical grip on logs at the woodpile, sawmill, or farm yard. Ideal for firewood handlers, sawmill operators, and anyone moving timber by hand.
The Claw is a compact single four-tine log grab — direct and easy to use. The Fang is a dual-arm design that wraps around the full log for more stability on larger diameter timber. Both are manufactured from Hardox steel to the same standard as our excavator attachments.
