Hedge–cutting season might run six months on paper, but anyone working Irish ground knows you’ll never get six months out of it. Between rain, breakdowns, and machines turning up late, every lost week is money you’ll never bill back.
That’s why we build to order with a tight 4–6 week lead time, keep parts on the shelf, and run a workshop that can turn a damaged head around fast. Lose days, not weeks.
Order your saw head, flail, or tree shear by mid–July and you’ll be ready to hit the first dry morning of the season.

Forestry contractors, agricultural contractors, farmers, plant hire yards, councils, sawmills, civils crews and grounds maintenance teams. Each machine engineered for a specific job — hedge cutting, scrub clearance, site clearance, timber handling — and built to your excavator’s tonnage, pin size and hydraulic spec.
Predator Tree Shear
Sizes: 200 · 450 · Fits 8t–20t excavators
Chainsaw work on a clearance is slow, dangerous and needs a man on the ground. The Predator shears standing trees in seconds from the cab — for forestry thinning, site clearance, civils and plant hire yards.
For hedges thicker than a flail can handle. Our 900mm rough-cut blade slices 100mm+ stems clean. When the teeth wear, the blade comes back to our Fermanagh workshop for a re-cut — something most attachment makers won’t take on.
Replacement blades for any Reaper Saw Head. We make them ourselves, and we re-cut worn ones — adding fresh teeth instead of you buying new every season. Sold year-round.
For rough verges, scrub and overgrown boundaries that chew up tractor-mounted flails. The Grizzly reaches over fences and ditches no tractor can — built for hedge management, road verges, council contracts and farm boundary clearance.
Handling round timber by hand is a back injury waiting to happen. The Viper rotates and loads logs onto trailers, splitters, processors and trucks. No cutting season — earns 12 months of the year.
When the teeth go round on a saw blade, most contractors bin it and buy new. We do something most attachment manufacturers won’t take on — the blade comes back to our Fermanagh workshop, fresh teeth go in, and it’s back out ready for another season.
Same hands that built it in the first place. Works on any 600mm or 900mm Reaper blade we’ve made — and saves you roughly half the cost of a new one.
Re-cut yours for around half the price of replacing it.

Built in Fermanagh since 1993
Made Local. Built Tough. Proven in the Field.
McElhill Engineering was founded by Gary McElhill in 1993. Three decades on, every excavator attachment we make is still cut, welded and assembled here in Fermanagh by people who’ve been doing this their whole working lives.
Forestry contractors, agricultural contractors, farmers running their own excavators, road verge crews, councils, sawmills and grounds maintenance teams have been working with us for years across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, with kit also delivered into England and elsewhere by arrangement.
The worst time to order a machine is when the season has already started. 4–6 week build time, made to order in Fermanagh. Order now. Cut when the season opens. Not two weeks after.
