Grizzly Flail Head 1000, Mid-Range Excavator Flail Attachment | Built in Fermanagh

For 4 to 6 tonne excavators • 1000mm working width • Shreds up to 30mm • Custom headstock built to your machine

⏰ Planning ahead? Lead time is 4 to 6 weeks. Every Grizzly Flail Head 1000 is built to order at our Fermanagh workshop. Custom headstock machined to your exact excavator pin size and hydraulic spec. Build slots fill as the season approaches. The contractors ready on 1 September are the ones who ordered in spring. Call 07734 357045 now to secure your slot.

The Grizzly Flail Head 1000 is a compact, powerful hydraulic flail attachment built for mini and compact excavators managing hedgerows, scrub and light vegetation in tighter spaces. With an 800mm working width and the ability to shred material up to 19mm diameter, it keeps field boundaries clean, roadside verges tidy and forestry scrub under control. Built for contractors running 4 to 6 tonne excavators who need a reliable flail head that earns its keep through the season without giving them grief.

On the jobs where a bigger machine cannot get in, the Grizzly 1000 gets it done. Tight gateways, narrow field boundaries, steep banks. Hand-built to order at our workshop in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, and used by contractors across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and England.

The season is short. The ground is soft. The hedges do not care about either.

Most contractors running 4 to 6 tonne machines are covering a mix of farm hedgerows, roadside verges and field boundaries. The contracts look simple on paper. Then the ground is too soft to get close, the hedgerow is heavier than last year, and the season is ticking down. The Grizzly 1000 is built to keep working through the awkward days, not just the easy ones. The Grizzly 1000 is built in our own Fermanagh workshop, serviced in our own Fermanagh workshop, and built to work the full season without putting you on the phone to a parts supplier three counties away.

Built for Access, Where Bigger Machines Cannot Reach The 800mm working width and compact design means the Grizzly 1000 works in places the larger flail heads cannot get to. Tight farm laneways, narrow field boundaries between ditches, roadside verges with restricted access. If your excavator can get there, the Grizzly 1000 can work. Custom headstock built to your machine as standard, at no extra cost.

Talk to the people who make the machines
When you call 07734 357 045 you are talking to the workshop. Not a sales team, not a call centre. The people who will build your machine will answer your questions and spec it correctly for your excavator.
Why Contractors Choose McElhill Engineering Ltd
  • The right size for most farm and roadside contracts. 1000mm covers the majority of hedgerows and field boundaries in NI and ROI without being overbuilt.
  • Shreds up to 30mm. Handles the heavier side of farm hedgerow work that the smaller flail heads struggle with after a few years of regrowth.
  • Pays for itself across one season on the right contracts. Faster cycle times, less manual work alongside the machine.
  • Built and serviced in Fermanagh. If it needs attention during the season, it comes back to us and goes out fast.
Key Features
  • 1000mm working width, the most popular size for general hedgerow and scrub work and tighter access sites where larger flail heads cannot operate
  • Shreds up to 30mm diameter, hedgerow management, scrub clearance, brambles and light woody vegetation
  • Custom headstock included as standard, precision built to your exact excavator pin size at no extra cost
  • Built for 4 to 6 tonne excavators, hydraulic flow 40 to 80 lpm, max oil pressure 70 to 140 bar, operating speed 2200 rpm
  • Attachment weight 200kg, well suited to the hydraulic capacity of mid-range excavators in this class
  • All servicing and repairs in our own Fermanagh workshop, we built it, we know how to fix it fast

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Grizzly 1000 fit my excavator?

The Grizzly 1000 fits any make and model in the 4 to 6 tonne range. A custom headstock is built to your exact measurements as standard. Call us on 07734 357045 and we will confirm your specific machine.

What kind of vegetation can the Grizzly 1000 handle?

The Grizzly 1000 shreds hedgerow, scrub, brambles and light woody growth up to 19mm diameter. It is designed for compact machines working on narrower hedgerows, tight field boundaries and roadside verges. For thicker vegetation and larger stems, consider the Grizzly 1000 or Grizzly 1200.

How long is the lead time and why?

Lead time is 4 to 6 weeks. Every Grizzly 1000 is built to order in our Fermanagh workshop. That time is spent machining your custom headstock to your exact pin size and hydraulic specification and building the attachment properly. You are not buying a stock item from a warehouse. Build slots fill as the season approaches, so the contractors who are ready on 1 September are always the ones who ordered in spring. Call to discuss your build slot now.

Does the headstock cost extra?

No. A custom headstock built to your exact excavator measurements is included as standard on every Grizzly Flail Head at no extra cost.

Do you carry out servicing and repairs?

Yes. All servicing and repairs are carried out in our own Fermanagh workshop. Because we manufacture every machine ourselves we can work on them faster and more accurately than a general dealer. See our Workshop Services page for details.

What is the difference between the Grizzly 1000, 1000 and 1200?

The Grizzly 1000 is built for 2 to 4 tonne excavators and shreds up to 19mm. The Grizzly 1000 is for 4 to 6 tonne machines and handles up to 30mm, making it the most popular size for general farm and roadside work. The Grizzly 1200 is the heavy-duty option for 8 to 13 tonne machines taking on thick scrub and commercial scale clearance up to 50mm.

Do you deliver outside Northern Ireland?
